Default ladies i have a dilemma and i need urgent advice

Hi this month we are BD on alternate days (we used to BD once a day but the dr said to try every other day) so we have Bd on day 9, 11, 13 and this morn day 15, i have now got a positive result on the opk which i would think would mean I will O in the next 24 - 36 hrs. This is the first time using OPK.

My problem is my hubby is on night shift so our options are to bd as planned on the morning of day 17 which is 2 days from now or tommorrow which will only be the next day since our last bd of today (if that makes sense!!)

Since he had one sperm count come back low we are trying to give them time to regroup! so I don't know if leaving it for the day 17 will be too late if I do O on day 16 tommorrow.

Oh what a dilemma, please helpppppppppp.

Best wishes to you all.

well from what i've been told the egg lasts a few days (i think it's 2 or 3) so i think it would be ok to BD the day after O, plus some of the sperm from the previous times should still be in there... Good Luck *baby dust*

btw (might be tmi) i BD the day before O and that was the last time (alternative days prior to the last) and i'm PG

I don't know can you BD early in the am when he gets home of your 17th day of your cycle? From what I was told the egg only lives for 24 hours after O, so if you O sometime on cd 16 and BD on days 15 and early on 17 I would think you should be coverd. But it's always a chance, good luck hope you guys catch it!

Your egg will only live for 24 hrs after ovulation....I was always told that you BD the night of "O" and what you do before that dosen't really matter.....just make sure you BD the night BEFORE "O" so that the sperm will be waiting for the egg when it is let go. It can take sperm up to 6 hrs to reach the egg but they can live (waiting) on average between 24-72 hrs. If you are worried about a low count then you should hold off on BD a day before the expected "O" day. If you just got a + OPK then I would NOT BD tonight and Bd tomorrow that way you have everything covered. Any sperm left from the last Bd should still be waiting and then the fresh supply should reach the egg before the others die. That way even if you "O" early or late there should still be some little guys waiting.....yes I know confusing right???.....When I did my clomid cycles that was what the Infertility Dr. told us to do! Hope it helps!

I noticed your post was from yesterday......lol sorry..... so I would say Bd on day 17. The left over sperm from day 15 should still be there incase you "O" early! GOOD LUCK!

Thank you so much ladies for your replies. Well I cornered DH when he woke at lunchtime, and we BD. The only reason I was a bit hesitant was that he had one low sperm count but that was a couple of months ago and he had a good test since then, so I was just worrying about giving the swimmers enough recoup time.

But I thought well if I am O today, I had to BD, it just felt like I would be missing an opportunity if we didn't. And it was more than a day since the last time anyway. I had a darkish line again on the OPK, and I was wondering if the line just got lighter and lighter now after O, although it was lighter than yesterday. It is the first time I have used them.

Well thank you again and best wishes and tons of baby dust for you all.
