Default lavender bath

Dh and I have been giving ds lavenders baths for a while now. It seems to really calm him at night. My sil told me the other day that you shouldn't give lavender baths to boys. That it has some side effect on boys. Has anyone else heard of this?

That's what I thought too! He loves his bath time, and really seems to sleep better after his bath and last bottle. I just wanted my friends opinions as well!

There's absolutely nothing wrong with it. The only bath arguement I've ever heard was that my pediatrician told my mom not to let me go in bubble baths when I was younger because they aren't good for little girls and can cause irritation. He's fine!

Both my boys had lavender baths up until a few months ago when we started buying them the toddler stuff and we've never had any issues?

Oh, and what's this about not giving girls bubble baths? I've given Scarlette a few, could that be bad for her? ((Sorry, I'm a first time mom of a girl lol))

I think the thing about girls and bubble baths is that the bubbles can irritate their 'girl parts' and cause bladder infections.

Bubble baths are the leading cause of urinary tract infections in girls who are not yet potty trained (according to my oldest dd's pedi 14 years ago.)

He also said that sitting in the bubble solution is the equivalent of sitting in a pan of dishwater. These infections are agonizing for little ones and hard to figure out exactly what is wrong, my 1 year old daughter was urinating blood before we got it all sorted out. Very scary!

So my advice is always, don't do bubbles. Do bath toys instead. And don't wash the until right before you are going to get them out so they aren't even sitting in the shampoo & body wash.

I have heard the same about bubble baths and girls but Nevy's Ped. said it was fine. She told us Nevy would have to be in the bath for over 2 hours to cause a UTI. So keep the baths short and simple and you wont have a problem (on a side note my mom was told that baths caused my UTI's as a child. Then when I was 16 and still getting them I had some tests done and found I have a kidney reflux. It was fixed with medication but it just goes to show that not all little girls get UTI's from the bath )

Lindsay I agree with everyone that he should be fine.
