In my old neighborhood there lots of dogs behind fences that would go crazy when me and I daughter walked by. And I thought to myself if one found a whole or jumped a fence what would I do? Would I have enough time to get her somewhere away from the dog? Stick her in a parked car that had the door open? A dog could very easily hurt you and get you away from your baby, and not to mention if there is another one. Pack mentality. I know we dont want to be bad neighbors and such, but if you ever feel in danger while walking with your child your doing everyone a disservice by not making a report. What if next time the owner is on a cell phone and the dog sees you before you see it? And sadly, they go straight for the throat when they can.

At the risk of making myself unpopular, I have to admit to crossing the street if a dog is heading in my direction ,even if it is on a lead.I am one of the minority who actually doesn't like dogs at all in any shape size or form!If I am visiting someone who owns a dog, they know in advance to keep it away from me. I am also allergic to them! As for dog poo and people having to pick it up and dispose of it, I feel sick at the mere thought! I would never wish an animal any harm though and I absolutely hate to see animals suffering.I have assisted at many human operations quite comfortably.I could not be in the same room during an animal operation.I would pass out! (strange) The only dogs I can tollerate are dogs for the blind.I am ok with them. It is not a phobia but it is bordering on it I suppose. I would be interested to know if anyone else here is the same.I am sure there will be a big 'no response', as I realise most people are dog lovers. I am not keen on any domestic pets in a house,I do love wild animals, in their natural habitat and would love to go on Safari.

Dont think your realize how intentionally funny this is.
Would love to go on safari
For the record, I have a friend who I could send the most endearing animal pictures too and it does nothing for her. Not an animal person at all. I dont think she would go on a safari either.

I know.I would cross the street rather than walk past a dog,yet could quite happily watch a lion or a tiger or an elephant etc from a distance. well as long as I was in a secure truck!!

My mom has German Shepard Pitbull mix and let me tell you she is the sweetest dog you will ever meet. Everytime she meets someone new (even if she's in the middle of walking) she'll lay down, roll on her back and wait for the other person to rub her tummy. I've always been a strong believer it's the way you train the dog and not the breed. She has never went to bite anyone and is afaird of my mom's 16 year old cat who only has 3 legs! She is a great guard dog and knows it's okay if a new person walks in while we're there. It just goes to show it's the people who train the dogs not the dogs themself. And I hate when they have to be put to sleep because they were not trained right. I think there should be some type of heavy jail time for people who have dogs who randomly attack like that even if it goes to attack another dog and not the person. I hate it when people just get off with fines!

The cops came back today and gave the dog owner the warning to get rid of the dog within a week. So the people will likely give it to someone else. Hopefully someone who can train it, but I doubt that.

If the dog is not gone, or "reappears" then they will have to take him, and they will put him in isolation and do some evaluations to see if he can function with people at all.

All because when the people saw the vet bill they no longer felt so responsible or compassionate.
Poor dogs, both. Now they have a vet bill AND no dog.

Recently a friend of mine was walking her cocker spaniel on a leash. A women bent down to pet the dog and somehow scared her and it nipped her. There was no broken skin but the women went to the hospital because she wanted a report just in case an infection developed. To make a long story short...the family is now without a dog. They live in a neighborhood with tons of kids and after going to "doggie jail" she was not allowed to return home. The people there felt that even though no skin was broken that there was a chance there would be next time since there seemed to be no reason to begin with.
The family ended up feeling worse for the poor woman than for themselves. She was so upset that they took the dog away she called everyday crying and wanting to buy them another dog.
