Leftover Beverages
I have a sippy cup question... It's a weird one. Every now and then Alex's sippy cup with juice gets left on the floor, hidden amoungst toys, etc. at the end of the night, still with juice in it. I know, I know, I should make sure to pick it up at the end of the night, but the truth is, is that right before bed I'm just not thinking about the sippy cup! LoL! Anyway, sometimes in the morning she finds the cup before I do, and she drinks from it before I realize what's going on. This has happened a few times, and recently she drank all the juice that was left in it! How bad is it for her if she drinks the left over juice from the night before? I know it's not gonna kill her, but I think it's kinda gross!
Also, lately we've been going through so much milk, and it's been a waste! I hate tossing out milk that she doesn't drink. Is it OK to put leftover milk from dinner (still left in the sippy cup) back in the fridge overnight and let her drink it for breakfast? Or is that gross and unsanitary?

this happens to us more then you kno! Jae actually is in the habit now of asking whether its "yucky juice" or "new juice" lol....I know the sippy cups we use get moldy very fast (has that little plastic piece inside to keep it from dripping) so we soak ours in bleach once a week, then scrub them really well with hot water.
As far as her getting to a cup from the night before, im sure it cant hurt her. It may cause some yucky poops if she drinks too much of an old drink though.
I re-use all the milk that doesnt get drank at a meal...not sure if thats good or not but neither of my kids have ever been sick from it. I didnt let it sit out in the heat for 5 hours first!

If her milk hasn't been out for more than 4 hours I put it back in the fridge and give it to her in the morning but usually in a fresh cup. She's never had a problem...I don't know if it's good or not.....but that's what I do! As far as juice I don't know?

i would reuse the milk, it sounds like you're talking about putting it in the fridge right after dinner, so i'm sure it's not a problem. the sippy cup thing happens constantly! oh geez. between the new dog & izzy & me, it's a race to see who can find the most sippycups. unfortunately, it's 2 against one and they usually win.

The boys drink their cups in the morning too... They ALWAYS hide them on me, and I've given up finding them at night... they will find them in the morning, take a sip and say "I need NEW juice Mommy!"... A sip here and there I don't think will hurt them. As long as it's a sip here and there, because bacteria will grow on the lid.
I've reused milk too... There are some times they are not in the mood and they take a sip and hand it back to me and I stick it in the fridge. But it's only good for 24 hours or so, because of the bacteria that can grow in the lid.

Thanks for all the advice, ladies! Rhianna, I totally hear ya about the plastic part getting moldy. When we first started using the sippys it never occured to me that they would get moldy. My mother in law finally saw that black junk was growing in the plastic part... awesome! Just the person I needed to see that! LoL! We run ours through the dishwasher with the plastic part disconnected, and that seems to take care of the problem.
And about the milk... last night I put a cup with milk in it into the the fridge and left it overnight. This morning it was pretty gross. Grainy looking, almost chunky. I don't think it had ever looked like that before, so I'm thinking maybe the milk was getting old to being with. (No wonder she wouldn't drink it last night!) Poor Alex. (And no, I didn't give it to her.. I caught it before I gave it to her!)
