Lots of folks are giving up candy, desserts, Tootsie Rolls, and the like
for Lent.
What about you?

I don't give up food for lent because: 1. I don't eat much candy/junk and 2. I'm breastfeeding and really can't fast. (last year I was pg!) I am working on being more patient and planning to attend daily Mass at least once a week and Stations of the Cross on Friday mornings. With a 4 year old and 6 month old in tow, wish me LUCK!!
I'm going to try to do something nice for a family member each day -- whether it's giving more attention to my older DD or saying something complimentary to someone. I'm not fasting this year as I'm nursing, so I figured since I can't really give up food either, then I wanted to try this instead.
I admire those of you taking the extra effort to do something unrelated to food. While fasting is necessary (except when physically unable, nursing, etc...) I think that attempting to improve your fruits of the spirit might be an even greater challenge. Way to go!
Im giving up tea and sweets and also attending morning mass every day.
My three eldest girls have ach taken on more chores and given up sweets and soft drinks.
