Unhappy HELP! 4&5 year olds Competition!

OK, I am a Single mom in the Army, The father of the two children had neglected them while in deployment on 2007. The children have been in a loving happy, nurtured home sense that and also received counseling. Now i am back for about 5 months now and the Boys seem to be competing for attention. NOT positively either. I thought it may be a "mommy is back home" stage, but it has gone on long enough to just be an annoyance. One will throw a huge fit while the other throws a shoe across the room. Ridiculous. I cannot keep up with the discipline.
At daycare the teacher says they are polite and kind to each other, But as soon as the foot hits the door it is fighting between them, which results in the corner, and yet a LARGE fit a 2 year old would make. This is constant, from everything to who refuses to share the last pop tart in the morning, to who's book do we read at bed time. The schedual is constant and never changes. They know exactly what will happen next. And yet the refuse to try to do positive things.

ANYONE have suggestions for a 4 & 5 year olds fit?

I don't get to spend much time as it is with them and most of it is grounding, corners, and nagging. Help!!!
