Usually I would never recommend video games for children this young but the new Nintendo Wii has some fun, non-violent and simple games that kids that age may love.

The selling point for the system is that the controller uses motion to mimic what is on screen.

That is to say if the game is golf, you use a small controller and "swing" it like a golf club to make the cartoon character on screen do the same.

A child could burn lots of calories and develop critical hand-eye coordination skills playing these games.

Talk to some other parents about the Wii to get more well rounded opinions, though.

Good Luck!

My name is Svetlana and I am a mother of 2,5 years old Julia. My daughter and I like to play children’s games. So I came up with some ideas that can help you to have great quality time with your child. They are simple games for toddlers and preschoolers that will teach your child how to be more organized, attentive and how to learn with fun!

Hi Ho Cherry Oh!
Hungry Hungry Hippos
Trouble
Cootie
That's what I could come up with spur of the moment, I used to be a nanny. The first one and last are the best, but both have a lot of little pieces. Other games that are simple and fun for little kids: Button, button, why's got the button? Paper Rock Scissors (suprising, but they seem to love it. However the 2 yr old we taught always did a thumbs up for the first 100 times she played it was cute!) And that "Fish" game comes to mind where you each have a fishing pole that has a magnet on the end and you catch fish that open and close their mouths with a magnet in the middle.

My kids love Go Fish and Crazy Eight, they also love dominos, a relative gave us some dominos that have animal characters that you match up instead of dots, and they just like matching up the pictures. Hungry Hippo and KerPlunk are fun indoor games too!

Hi Folks, check out www.whattodowiththekids.com for games, crafts, party ideas and much more. They are all based on a stay-at-home dad's book of the same name from 2001 who use to work at the local Boys and Girls Club. I've used many of them, especially the games that don't involve any equipment.

There are so many oldies but goodies still out from when we were little.
I like getting a little creative. I have the kids participate in making their games, this keeps them busy a little longer. We made a table top soccer game, indoor putt putt course and with the Olympics here we just did an outdoor Olympic game
