Looking for easy teacher appreciation gifts...
that my 8 year old daughters can make but that won't be another useless thing for the teachers to toss in a drawer. Any suggestions? (I know that teachers really love everything that they receive from their students but they are only one person and they could receive 20+ gifts. I would love it to be something to show how much we appreciate them but also something that they can use.)

You know, at the risk of sounding tacky, teachers do NOT love everything that they get from their students! While it was certainly great that they thought of giving me a thank you note. . .the problem is that I received (as do many other teachers) over the course of only 3 years teaching. . .DRAWER FULLS of mugs, smelly stuff, and all else. Storage is an issue and honestly I had to throw things away! But certainly the thought is appreciated. . .here are a few of the things that were more useful. A potted plant for the classroom, the girls can decorate the pot if it's in a terra cotta pot. or if they're like my twins two potted pots!
Something for the classroom. . .your girls could make a set of magnets for example, or a set of stationary for the teacher. Something that she can use up or keep displayed easily.

How funny! I was just wondering the same thing! We have a total of 6 teachers at the kid's preschool to give gifts to this year! I need to do something that they'll like...but is affordable too!
I really like the plant idea! I can get one big one for Grace's teachers & one for Colin's teachers! And the kids will enjoy decorating the pot! Good idea, thanks!

How about a "gift in a jar"?? I have a couple of small cook books that have ideas in them for putting 2gether gift jars with things that the teacher than bakes or mixes 2 gether...ex. muffins, salsa, dips, soup, etc...that kinda of thing. The kids can decorate the jar that the mix goes in...it looks really nice and the teacher can then make something out of it. You may be able to find some recipes on the internet but if you cannot let me know if you are interested and what recipes you would want and I can PM them to you ...if not that's ok too!!! What about making a donation to a charity or organization on behalf of the teacher? I also thought of the terra cotta pots but on their own that could be decorated...anyhoo, my 2 cents...

Gift Ideas for Teachers
I'm a mom of four, and have often wondered about what gifts to give a teacher! Some of my favorite ideas are: Adding to the Class Library--find out what books the teacher would like for his/her classroom ahead of time, or just pick age appropriate material; Giving to a Charity in the Teachers' Name; Writing a Letter of Praise to the Principal (make sure to give the teacher a copy, too!); Supplies for the Classroom--a lot of times they need to use their own money to purchase items--especially great for a new teacher!; and of course, the all time favorite--a gift certificate! Find out a little about their interest to get a custom card (gardening, golfing, etc.) or pick a card to a place we all use (restaurant, gas station, beauty salon, etc.). I love to give custom gifts, and have turned my passion into a website. In this site, I have a whole page dedicated to gift giving for teachers! You can see it at link removed . Click on the "Teacher" tab along the left navigation bar. No, I'm not trying to sell anything on this site...I just put together a bunch of my do-it-yourself gift ideas to help out other moms who are looking for gift solutions. Hope the above info helps you find the perfect teacher gift!

I'm a teacher and I love it when kids put their own creativity into a gift. It shows their personality. I have had cookies made by my kids, ornaments they painted, home made cards, etc.

My DD teacher said would prefer not to get gifts and asked for things for the classroom instead of gifts for her like hand sanitizer, kleenex, glue sticks...things that everyone can use.

School supplies are always appreciated! Things that run out quick... crayons, markers, map pencils, glue, construction paper, etc.

I am teacher we always run out of storage! Anything that can be used to store books, such as a book holder decorated and such are brilliant. Or even a poster about work they have done in class or at home. Last year a year 7(12yrs) made a game about the topic we had been doing it was brilliant, it meant the whole class could join in, play a game and revise at the same time.
