Makeup - To wear or not to wear...
So I was thinking today as watching the morning news about makeup and what not. They're going on about how you shouldn't leave the house without this or that.
Now I've only worn makeup on three occasions. My senior pictures, my prom and my wedding and even then it was minimal.
I'm of the opinion that makeup is a waste of time and money. It's a cover up of naturally beautiful people. I feel people think that it's necessary when in fact it's not. It's like people are hiding from who they really are.
I read in pregnancy magazines and parenting magazines that they say to always put on makeup as if this is supposed to make you feel better about yourself or something and I don't really understand that reasoning.
I won't be buying makeup for my children at all. If they want it they'll have to earn their own money for it and figure it out themselves.
So my questions are as follows:
Why do you think makeup is so important to you or other people?
Do you wear makeup? If not, why not? If so, why so?

I clicked on all the time, not because I really do wear it all of the time, but most of the time I do. However, my makeup routine takes me all of about 5 minutes and without it, I feel like my face looks completely washed out. My eyes are one of my favorite features, and makeup really helps them to stand out. I do not wear a ton of makeup, as I feel that makes people look fake, but I do wear enough to highlight my eyes and to make my face look more even in color.

Same for me babydawn. I rarely go a day without putting on some makeup and for the same reasons as you. I find if I don't, people say how tired I look or I just have that washed out look. It only takes me about 5 min in the morning and it just gives me a fresh, clean look for the day. For 5 min of my time I find it worth it and it brightens my best features - I do feel better when I am wearing it.

I agree, I also wear it just about everyday, I am with you guys as far as it only taking 5 minutes or do. Im not one of the people that spends a ton of money buying it and a ton of time putting it on but I do wear it just about everday.

I pretty much wear it all the time- but it ranges from a quick blast of mascara and some gloss to full on going out wear. It takes me less than a minute, to about 7-10 for a full face, but that may only be once or twice a week.
I am so glad that colourful 80's style makeup is back in...I love it. I am very pale and have almost black hair, so I can pull of almost any colour, and it's fun to experiment and do the unexpected!

I started wearing makeup to cover up the marks from back teenage acne. I got to the point where I would not leave the house without it. By the time I finished college and my skin cleared, I was wearing very little makeup. I recently started wearing it again to cover redness on my nose, even my skintone, and making my eyes look more alive. I am 38. If not worn properly, makeup can cover natural beauty, but if worn properly, it can enhance it.
My daughter can't have makup until she is 16.. she'll have to pay for it like I did

I like wearing make-up and have since junior high.
I am also one of those pale girls.
It makes me feel pretty.
Usually Mary Kay is my favorite,
but since Christmas time, I am trying Bare Minerals.
I do not spend much time (prob 5 minutes tops) or money on my make-up either.
Some ladies do not wear make-up due to religious reasons.
I have a friend at work that is Pentecostal and does not wear make-up.
But, if her lips are chapped, she will wear some clear lip gloss to moisturize.
If her nails start getting chipped and worn down,
she'll wear clear nail polish to strengthen them.
I figure, if it makes you feel good and feel pretty, wear some.

Oh boy! I am in the minority here! I only wear it on special occasions. I probably should apply a little something to even out my skin tone in the mornings...but I just never really think about it. Most of my time is spent outdoors at parks or the beach anyway, and I never put make-up on for the beach. lol.

Why do you think makeup is so important to you or other people?
Do you wear makeup? If not, why not? If so, why so?
There are some ladies with natural beauty and don't need a thing.
I'm like Jadis, It depends for me. I do NOT go out of the house without mascara because I want my eyes to look awake. Now Pamala, if your eyes are as beautiful as your baby's, I'm sure your justified in not excentuating them (you're justified regardless ).
I just try to enhance what I have. I don't use foundation or powder. I use concealer under my eyes as needed, upper eye eyeliner, mascara and a light lipstick or gloss. I can't wear anything bold. Rarely do I wear eyeshadow or blush.
