Default Managing care for an elderly parent

I am about to hire a private nurse for my aging mom. And I'm looking for some input on handling the nurse's payroll and calculating payroll taxes. I'm leaning towards the option of software that I can use at home because it's probably the least expensive option.
Has anyone else been in this situation and can recommend some good software products out there? Thanks so much for any input.

Can't you go through an agency? It would save you a whole lot of work and if you find you don't like the individual for some reason they can send you another Way easier on you and your mom knowing there will always be someone to look after her. Besides they do all the criminal record checks, all the paper work and handle the $. You probably would spend more money hiring someone yourself and there is no guarantee you or your mom would get along with this person. Then you'd have to start the process again.

Welcome to the board!

Yes, I would recommend staff from an agency. Perhaps you mean a home health aide to help your elderly mother or a sitter. That person from an agency has allready been screened. And if the person simply does not 'show-up' for whatever reason, you'll have a backup from the agency.

Yes, an agency would seem easiest. But we we were fortunate to be able to hire a family friend with many years of caregiving experience.
Regarding paying my mother-in-law's caregiver, we used a payroll service for a while which was fine. But my husband happened to find blah blah removed spam , and he has found it so easy to use. Plus we've saved at least a couple hundred dollars this year versus using the pay service. Hope this helps, and good luck.

Yes..but if she is not an actual health care worker it could cost you so much more money getting her insured...and what if she goes on Vacation? Can you plan around that? And does your mom like her...it would be important for her to like the individual.

BTW I find it very interesting your replying to yourself
