It's probably not a bad idea to allow families to make this decision. I live in a community with many active deployed, and the perception is that the rest of the country doesn't really understand that there's a war on, what it means, or that they are doing a job to be supported. Keeping it invisible is no good.

But in this era of 24 hour news business, I'd hate to see a family's grief exploited.
