Default Methadone Deaths

Methadone once associated with heroin clinics now has multiple uses. Gradually this drug started being used for opiate detox programs and then more recently into pain management. Unfortunately as it's uses grew so have the death tolls. In 2003 over 3,000+ people died, that is more then the 9/11 disaster. In 2004 over 4,000 victims perished, that is more then the Americans who have died in the Iraq war. The totals for 2005 & 2006 are not available to date. In some area's they are reporting up to a 300% increase from the previous year. The increase in deaths is due to the overwhelming use by pain management. Most are innocent victims of a very dangerous drug, you can die from just one dose. Our medical profession, FDA, DEA, CDC and other agencies are aware of the alarming number of deaths. Many are thankful for Methadone and will state how it has saved their life. They are only the lucky ones so far. You are never truly safe from becoming Methadone's next victim. All victims died exactly the same way, they laid down, went to sleep and never woke up. Some died from one dose and others it took a couple of days, there are even the few who had been taking the drug for a longer period and fell to it's clutches. Methadone is an extremely addictive drug and is as hard if not harder in some cases to detox from than heroin. So why are DOCTORS prescribing this lethal, unstable drug to people so easily. How many thousands of deaths will it take before someone wakes up and stops the distribution by our medical society.
I am a nurse who lost her son last June 11, 2006 after a doctor prescribed Methadone to him for pain. He was not a candidate for this drug, but who is? After he took it as prescribed, 40 hours later he was dead. If you choose to take this drug just realize you may go to sleep and never wake up. The choice is yours.
