Missing Cat
We have a cat named Rex. He is an outdoor cat. He was here when we bought the house. The prior owner left him here with no food or water for a week till we showed up!!!! He is an awesome cat. (I am more of a dog person) He is all gray with the most beautiful green eyes. He had a cancerous growth on him that we had taken care of. We had some animals trapped for attacking him. We have given him a nice area on the front porch with a bed and food and water. Tiffany loves him!!! She loves to go pet him. And he is sooooo good with her! He is afraid of our dogs and they do not like him, so that is why he isn't in the house. But we love him so much!
. He even keeps the critter population under control!
Well, the last time I saw him was on Thursday. He has never stayed away more than one night. I am so afraid that he got hit by a car. Or that something got him (bear, panther, cyote, dog or another cat) Although he was tough, so I doubt that. Also, someone may have thought he was a stray and taken him. If they gave him a great home and loved him, I would be ok with that, but I will never know! I hate not knowing. I hope he is ok.
I hope he comes home. Say a prayer for Rex.

Have you put up any notices in local shops or lamp posts? If not do, make sure you write on them that the cat is a childs pet, then if anyone has him, guilt will kick in.

ooh i agree Samual!!!! That would work!
If he is an outdoor cat and someone grabbed him up, I'm sure he will escape and come home soon anyway!!
PS I love it that you take such good care of a pet that was someone else's. He should be so happy to have a family like you guys!

Those are great suggestions! I will call animal control in the morning, and the humane society, and the vets around here. And I will put up fliers. I think up until tonight when he didn't show up I figured he would be here soon, trying to convince myself everything would be ok.
But, it is 9:15 here and he is no where in site.
There have been a lot of cyote attacks lately on small animals. I hope that isn't what happened.
Poor Rex. I hope he is safe wherever he is.
I am going to try to find him tomorrow.

Ohhhh!! I love cats, and just hearing stories like this one make me so sad! I really hope that Rex finds his way home! I had a cat that stayed outdoors (for a while, at least) and she, too, ran away for a few days and came back with kittens!! That's when we started keeping her inside. I suppose there is no way you would want him inside if he doesn't get along with the dogs.
Come home, Rex!

I love Rex, and I would let him in right now, but I am afraid of what the dogs would do. I personally would try letting him in and put the dogs on leashes to get them to get used to him, but my dh is convinced that it would never work. Granted, they did chase him up a tree once. And once they got out and cornered him, and all three of them ended up a little bloody. That was awful. See, our yard is 2 1/2 acres and the entire back is fenced in for the dogs, Rex has the whole front. The only time the dogs get out are the 2 times that the pest guy left the gate open. Since then we put locks on it! NO more kitty up the tree.
Poor Rex!!!!! Come home!!!!!!!

Oh, I am so sorry that Rex is lost! That must be so hard not knowing where he is. We let our cat out sometimes when we're in the backyard and a few times she has slipped through the fence and disappeared for a few hours at a time. I freak out then! I can't imagine her being gone for days!
I hope Rex comes home soon. If not, just imagine that he is living with another family who is lavishing him in tons of love!!!

One of our outdoor cats disappeared for about a month or more and then finally came home looking quite a bit more plump than when he left. Since then, he repeats a cycle of leaving for a few weeks, then coming back for a day, then leaving for a few weeks....
I think he may have found better grub elsewhere and only comes back when he's run out of food at his newer home.
BTW, "our" outdoor cats are just cats that we kind of adopted by feeding them when no one else would. Have no idea where they came from, but there's plenty of barns in this area, so I imagine that's where they're from originally. Since they were never really ours to begin with, I can't get upset if they're wanting to dine elsewhere.
