I bring this story here beacause there are just so many issues we can talk about.

1. how can an 11 year old be mom to a baby?
2. how can a mother of an 11 year old approve of a sexual relationship?
3. how can the 19 year old be possibly sentenced to life when his mom and the girls mom both said it's ok....no, two wrongs don't make a right, but c'mon this is another case of "mom said it's ok"

So...who has thoughts on any of these issues?

I teach this age range (11-14).... It is so scary how much these kids know about sex and relations. Many parents think their kids will learn on their own and being a teen is all about expression and self discovery... well maybe some what, but not to such a degree. Mom in this case should be held accountable... This is statutory rape... even if mom gave permisson! Ugh!

i think that both moms got off way too easy they should not have EVER consented to their children having sex. The little girl is only 11 when she is 22 she will have an 11 year old. That is scary as I am 22 and pregnant.

Yes--the moms got off easy but I imagine there wasn't anything else to charge them with. I just hope they got the maximum sentence allowable.

I bet those moms thought they would get their kids off the hook by telling the police that their permission was granted. Imagine their surprise when they were handcuffed! Serves them right!

Its kind of sick and twisted that 3 adults (one being the own child's mother) participated in the rape and impregnation of a child. This is depressing.

I too hope they get the maximum penalty.

An 11 year old is in like 6th grade. Elementary school. A 19 year old is done with high school. She's a baby, he's a man (by do I use that word loosely). Most 19 year olds are into computers, into cars, not into 11 year old children Most 19 year olds find 11 year olds quite annoying.

With both of my girls, when they've talked about boys, I wanted them to hang out with boys their own age. As freshman in high school, going out with senior boys just wasn't ok. A 13/14 year old does not belong in the same group as an 18/19 year old. So, it puzzles me beyond belief how this mom of the 11 year old thought it was all ok
