Dh and I have an ongoing debate about this. What do you all think is an acceptable monetary amount for a christening being held at a restaurant?

i think 100dollars is a good amount for a monetary gift it is not to much and not to little what did you have in mind.

Dh says between $200-$250. We are a family of 4(almost 5) and I am currently a SAHM. I think that is too much, but he disagrees.

I'm confused...is the baby being christened at the resturant or is the party at the resturant? Either way I would say that $100 is a perfectly fine amount considering the size of your family and what you do for a living. When my children were baptised (we are Lutheran) they didn't recieve monetary gifts. Instead we got picture frames to commemorate the occasion, children's bible story books, children's bible songs cd's and beautiful crosses to hang on the wall. Are you set on a monetary gift? I would maybe consider a tasteful item to give instead of money that way the parents don't see the amount of the gift, but the thought behind it.

when DD was christened, most people gave about $25. I normally get a church related gift (bible, white blanket, etc) since we cannot afford to give a decent amount of cash, however if we could i would prefer to give around $100.
