Default My baby girl is a nail bitter...

In the last month or two we have really been on Savanah to stop putting her hands in her mouth for obvious reasons. Well now I have noticed I haven't had to clip her nails on her hands for awhile because there's nothing there. I looked at her fingertips the other day and she has bitten the skin off of her fingertips as well, sometimes to the point of bleeding. I am just so sad! I know this is my and my hubby's fault, we are both nail bitters and I also chew skin from next to my nails. My husband always has his hands in his mouth and I know she is just mimicking her dad and I and picking up the habit that way. I try to tell my husband, she's watching you every second! She's going to do what you're doing, it doesn't matter how much we tell her to stop!
Any suggestions??? I've got to get her to stop!

i'm not really sure if there is a solution. when my sister was in her teens, my mom promised to buy her a ring if she stopped, to this day she's the only non-nail biter in the family. i know they sell bitter stuff you can put on her fingers, it's normally used for thumb sucking but i'm sure it'll still work. i forget the name, but i saw it at walgreens. i've never seen it in target or the grocery store so you might have to go to the drugstore to buy it. GL!

Katelyn lately....has been doing this but with her big toes!!!!!! I hope you find a solution. My sister used the stuff Amber was talking about and it worked for her nail bitter.

Sometimes increasing calcium in the diet stops biting as some biters bite due to calcium deficiency, also more calcium means stronger nails that are harder to bite
