Lightbulb My daughter would like to chat with other homeschool teens, any ideas?

Hey guys,

My daughter would like to have a chance to chat with other homeschoolers around her age range. Of course I don't want to send her to some chat room or forum I don't know about. She'd think it was great to connect with someone else who's homeschooling too. Is this the place to do this kind of thing? Do homeschool teens have their own forum? Does anyone know the rules on such a thing?

Let me know!

There are two homeschool sites that I know of that have a special thread for homeschooled kids to communicate w/ each other. The nice thing is that there is an adult moderator supervising the posts.

I'm not sure if I can post links to other forums but I'll give it a shot. If they get removed, then just google "forum and homeschool".

Have you tried to find a homeschool support group in your area yet? I found a few in our area just by doing an Internet search including our city and "homeschool support group." In my immediate area there are several groups, some are Christian, others are not. Some are free, others are not. You can usually attend at least one meeting without paying or joining just to see if you like it and then if your daughter meets any other teens she hits it off with they can exchange numbers or email info.

Default Support in my area

Hey all!

My local area is hard to explain. Homeschooling is not big here at all. There is a large group (about 50 kids total, Laredo's population is over 200K!) but most are younger aged kids.
I have been trying to do something about the lack of fun things to do among this age group and get them together. So far I have had a good response, but we haven't actually met up yet.

Thanks for the responses and I'll check out some of the sites mentions.

Default Youtube homeschoolers

I don't know how old your daughter is, but there is a good population of homeschoolers on youtube. You could monitor her and help her search for a few faborites and start communicating with them. My kids are nearing highschool too... my son starts this year, and it can be difficult to find homeschool highschool kids who aren't wayyyy busy.
