Default My Introduction

Hi,
My name is Charisse and I am new here. I have been homeschooling since 1992- went through a divorce and remarried in 2004- and am still homeschooling. Things have changed quite drastically, but my love for my children and my love of education hasn't. I have seen much good and bad come from my homeschooling journeys and have learned from the mistakes that I have made in the past and have seen others make.
I am also a stay at home, homeschooling, work from home mom. I have been earning my living through freelance writing online. My husband has joined me in that field, and has now begun homeschooling our daughter. I believe he may be a better teacher than I am... Which I must say, it has been a bit of a struggle for me to keep my mouth shut and not try to "take over", but he is doing an excellent job, and it is so wonderful to actually have a homeschooling parent partner...
Now..that would be a cool idea...huh? For homeschooling parents to partner up...give each other an occasional break...hmmm...lol..
Well,
I wanted to introduce myself. I am Charisse from Florida, my hubby is Kevin, between us we have 10 children...Larissa, 21 Elijah, Jeremiah, (20 year old twins) Shawna, 17, Jesse 14, Adrianna 12, Samuel 7, Rhema 5, Ariella 1, and Joshua 5 weeks.
It's nice to meet you all,
Charisse

Default Hi: Shoshanna

Hi Shoshanna,
I am going to be one of the two new Homeschool bloggers here. It is nice to meet you. How did you like your homeschool experience, and if I may ask, what are you doing now? Are you in school, homeschooling through college, or taking some time off?
I would love to hear more about you and your experiences, and thanks for the welcome.

Charisse

Chrisse - welcome to Famlies.com - I'm also a homeschooling Mom and have written a few guest blogs on homeschooling (and hope to do more in the future!). It is great that we have dedicated homeschool bloggers now! Yay!

Default Great to Have You Here

Hi Charisse! I didn't realize that you and Kathy Wells (KW29) are the new Homeschooling bloggers. I look forward to both your insights and advice because I could really use some guidance with my homeschooling-a-teenage-boy-with-ADHD adventure!

Default Thanks for the Welcome

Thanks everyone for the great welcome!
I am excited to be over here, and I love the way Families sets things up. Guest blogging is a great idea, hopefully after a become more seasoned here, I can guest blog somewhere else...
I love homeschooling and think it is the best choice in many situations. When I started homeschooling, I was very young. I was a teen mom, having my first child at the tender age of 16. My daughter went to public school for Kindergarten and 1st. She didn't do very well, and by second grade, the school wanted to put her in special education classes. I however, didn't believe that she had "learning problems", but wasn't being taught effectively for her "learning style", so off to the library I went...
By the end of our first year homeschooling, she had made it to the third grade reading level.
So, first and foremost, I love teaching reading therefore, the phonics focused blogs are my topics of choice...lol..
My least favorite subject to teach has been math!

How about you guys? What have been your least and most favorite subjects to teach?
