My 14 yo has worn his braces for twenty five months. We were told initially that he would have to wear them for months. To say the least, he was very excited for the day for them to be removed. When we arrived home and DH saw what Josh's teeth looked like he flipped out. I hadn't really taken the time to look at them. Somewhat long story short, the three of us are just not happy with the end results. We met with the orthodontist again today and showed him what we did not like. In the end it was decided that Josh will have braces put back on his teeth in the morning. The new treatment will include the extraction of four teeth and another 12-18 months of wearing braces. I feel so bad for him. He's 14 and of course looks are becoming more and more important. No one enjoys wearing braces. I, myself, had to wear braces for more than four years after many other things that had to be done. I just wish we had realized much, much earlier what this ortho had invisioned as the end result. It saddens me that Josh is upset and has to wear the braces longer. However, he does understand that his father and I just want the best possible results for him. DH told him he'd be getting the braces off by the time he could drive and really get into chicks.
