Default My tip to save money.

I sell David's clothes/toys on consignment and use that money to buy him new clothes/toys. That way I don't have to touch what's in the bank to buy new stuff. I also put stuff in yardsales anyone I know has. I use that for him too.

That's a great idea - i wish there were consignment shops near me.... I might just venture into the wild world of ebay selling one of these days

I have alot of friends who have boys slightly older or bigger than my boys and they pass me all their worn clothes. The last bag I got was all name brand, great condition clothes. My girlfriends and I pass along baby clothes too. This really helps when the kids grow so fast. I try to have a garage sale at least once a year and I sell my kids clothes for a quarter and believe me, I get rid of them.

Craigslist is another great place to buy and sell old kids clothes, toys and equipment. If you don't have a consignment store in you area, that may be worth a try. Plus you don't have to pay the eBay fees or shipping

I would have to agree with you on that one. CL has been good to me in the past with selling items.

So basically dont spend money that is in your current account, only life off the extra you earn?

Hmmm.

I took out the link to the bank that was reached on by clicking the words "current account" in the above post.

what is a consignment shop? I don't think I would be comfortable buying second hand clothes for the children. Were we are we buy hand made organic and fairtrade clothes and we have found that cheaper than buying from companies, which surprised us quite alot.
