Default name help

We know we'll be calling baby boy Jack (after my dad), but we're struggling with middle names. DH really wants "Jack John" but i think that just sounds ridiculous. i don't really like the 2 j's together, and jack is a nickname of john. (dh doesn't understand this.. i tried explaining it's kinda like bill being the nickname for william, dick for richard, etc. but it went over his head.) i tried compromising with John being the first name, nickname him jack then find a middle name, but he thinks that will be confusing.

what do you ladies think? is jack john repetitive? any suggestions for middle names for either jack or john? tia

I wouldn't use Jack John either. My Jack is a Jack Stephen both family names.

I agree with it sounding silly/repetitive..What about using DH's name as a middle name? Or how about:

Jack Douglas ()
Jack Robert ()
Jack Michael
Jack Henry
Jack Alexander
Jack Philip
Jack Matthew
Jack Benjamin
Jack Gregory

I would definately steer clear of Jack John. That just doesn't sound good. (No offense to your DH!) It's like naming someone Alexandria Ali. Or Jennifer Jen.

I really like Jack Alexander! That one sounds good!

I don't think jack and john fit together. I would use something like John Christian. Now that I think about it... if you use the full name Johnathan, it doesn't sound that bad with jack... Johnathan Jack

names should have a rhythm to them and the best would be a one-syllable name followed by a three-syllable name. (e.g. dirk nowitzki). A three-syllable name would work well with Jack.

Mine is Jack Paul (well, Jackson Paul) and I know someone who has a Jack Mason.

I agree with the syllable thing - I like Jack Christopher myself. Or Jack Robinson - guessit may depend on yourlast name as well??
