For a real bad sore throat - the kind that feels as though it's being attacked by germies, yuck! - I would recommend gargling with goldenseal mixed with hot water, as hot as you can stand it. If you are pregnant, I don't recommend swallowing it. Just gargle as often as needed to soothe and disinfect the throat. Drink lots of water anytime you use goldenseal - it can be harsh on the liver

Well my throat feels 10x better but this cold is killing me! Now my nose is sooooooo stuffy! The Dr. said that it is ok to take any childrens cold meds so I went and got some! The Chloraseptic worked great on my throat and so did the salt/water combo! As for my nose and head.....they are still killing me and nothing is really helping. I guess I will have to ride this cold out! Thank you everyone for all your help!!

Have you tried Little Noses for you nose? Its a saline spray that you can use all day long made for babies. I use it all the time and it doesn't give you that icky dry feeling. There is nothing worse than being sick when your preg. I had a 2x ear infection w/ my ds the day before delivery and a spring yuck w/ dd where I couldn't hold my head up. Hope you feel better soon!

i just had the flu & my doctor said it was okay to take sudafed & tylenol cold products. (as long as it wasn't for more than 2 days). i bought both, but ended up just using the sudafed for my nose & regular tylenol for my aches & pains.

p.s. use the pseudoephedrine not the phenylephrine.
