Default Natural remedies?

I have a question for anyone who uses natural remedies verses all the potent medicines.
Where do you get your information? I would like to know more about natural remedies for things instead of just turning to antibiotics or other meds right away. But I don't know where to go for reliable and safe information.
I don't want my 9 month to be exposed to all of the chemicals and stuff that is in so many meds today. (Unless absolutely necessary) I have just noticed how quick her pedi is to write out a prescription for anything. (Phenabarbatol for crying, which we didn't use, donatol elixcer for POSSIBLE ear infection, prevacid for reflux, which she doesn't have.....she spit up one time at the office, I had just fed her)
So, any suggestions for books?
Thank you!

Why not consider a new pediatrician? Our pedi is not quick to write prescriptions and is very pro-natural remedies and hesitant to use antibiotics unless necessary.

I have to be honest and say that you could take your child to an herbalist, a naturopath, and osteopath or a homeopath. However, I really feel like it's much easier to find a pedi who is 'nature friendly' than a qualified and good herbalist, etc. You really need a practitioner who is trained specifically in pediatrics, but is also in line with your philosophy.

I use a combination of both natural and meds when I feel my kids need it. My pedi is an excellent source of information. In addition, I generally will look up the condition on the internet. Where I get my information is based on what my pedi tells me, what I read about the condition from the AAP and/or WHO or other quality organizations and then lastly, I will consider 'natural remedy' sites. Out of five kids, we've done antibiotics a grand total of twice in 8 years.
