Unhappy Need a Birthday Party Theme for 6 year old Boy

Vince will be 6 in a few weeks (October 12). We always have a birthday party up north with our extended families, and I center his parties around a theme. Last year we did a Bull Riding birthday, the year before it was Cars, and the year before farming. My sister is a whiz at creating theme cakes, and she has done an awesome job each time!!

My problem is that I'm having trouble coming up with a theme this year. We usually do a few inexpensive decorations, some party favors (kids range in age from 6 months to 12 yrs), and of course the cake. Vince is really into skateboarding at this age, also rodeo/bull riding, deer hunting, and school (he LOVES Kindergarten).

Can anyone make a suggestion for me as to a theme? I would like a cake idea and some cheap favors. I had started to form ideas about a hunting party with a bullseye cake and some bows and arrows from the $1 store as favors, but now I don't like that idea as much. Any other suggestions?

Kevin will be easy this year - he can't get enough of Elmo!! Thank goodness for that

How about pirates? Really easy IMO... but it wasn't on your list of things he likes, but he might still like it
Good luck in deciding

I've seen those little finger skate boards. You could put one on the cake, or hand them out as favors.

I like the idea of a school-themed party, espec. where it is still so early in the school year (kids aren't sick of it yet!!) and it's a pretty important year in your son's life - kindergartend!! You could make a school bus shaped cake, get some little school supplies at the dollar store for favors (pencils, erasors, glitter glue, etc.) and maybe mini chalkboards at the craft store for each kid to label their goody bag. There are usually several school themed projects at the craft store right now. You could play musical chairs, but pretend they are desks, and have "gym class" and "art cvlass".

On a different note, you could always have a fall-themed party, with pumpkin-decorating, and pretty leaf collecting.

Have fun!!

What about a super hero theme? My son and daughter in law did that for their young one and found lots of fun games on the web.

That's exactly what we did for my son's 7th. He loved it. We even got a box and filled it with candy and small toys (pineada type stuff) we then buried it (shallowly of course) and gave them some kid sized shovels and a very easy to read treasure map.

They loved it.
