Default need opinons

DH and I were eating kraft mac and cheese and Jaxon grabbed some and shoved it into his little mouth. He has been doing this alot lately but with things that im less worried about like pizza crust or buttered noodles. But he grabbed the mac and cheese with a dirty little look on his face basically saying Mom this is mine and there is nothing you can do about it. Should I be worried about it or is it not a really big deal. We dont have any food allergies except from me I am allergic to melon and avacado BUT it isnt like a real allergy as all it does is cause my throat to itch.

Kristin it sounds like he is ready for food He's almost 6mnths and I think its just perfectly normal behavior. Do you have finger snacks for him? When Aiden started taking food off our plates I got finger snakcs for him and he'd "eat" while we had supper. HTH

Yep I did that with Nevy too! The Gerber puffs are great! Nevy loves the sweet potato ones. I just put some on the table and she eats them while we eat. So this way she feels like she is having dinner with us. You could also cut up small bites of banana and let him eat those while you eat.

I do the same thing with the finger foods. And anything that i am eating, that lilly can have, i let her try it. I dont see any problems with that at all. Look at it this way, the sooner they start eating table foods, the less you will have to spend on baby foods . My Lilly loves the banana puffs

We do baby-led weaning, which basically assumes that at 6 months babies are able to handle a lot of the same foods adults can (with a few exceptions such as honey, nuts, fish, etc.). So, no purees to us- Norah eats whatever we do, and we put it on her tray and let her feed herself.

The only issue we have had so far was that Norah had a reaction to either green peppers or teryaki sauce- her face and hands broke out into a rash. I think it was actually the spice of the green pepper...I sometimes get a rash when something spicy touches my skin.

An added bonus is that when we go out to eat we don't have to worry about bringing food for Norah- I can usually order something that she can eat as well.

Kristin: I wouldn't think it would be a big deal- but I do agree that he's probably ready for solids. Though, I would be a tad apprehensive to give Kenzie everything we eat- even at 6 months. I think I am more afraid of choking than an allergic reaction..

He's a sneaky little man, huh!

this is exactly what we do. it certainly saves us a ton of money too! i have to be honest, i don't have the patience for purees. it's so much easier to give her a plate of food and let her go to town. (of course having a dog for cleaning up the drops helps too! )

We dont want to deal with baby food too much, we would rather him eat what we are eating if he wants to. I was just worried about all the milk content. But he has made it clear for the past two days that he will eat what we are eating. Today he had some baked beans he has stinky farts to begin with so I think I am in for it tonight. He also had some macaroni noodles with butter. I think we will just start giving him things cut up small for him. I broke the noodles into tiny pieces before putting them on his tray. He already does a chewing motion and has two teeth to help break it up. So I think he will just start eating what we do.

Hehe. Little stinker. Very cute. It's probably fine. But I think Kraft is pretty processed, so I wouldn't let him eat a whole lot of that...and my nephew was still having problems with dairy at that age.
