You may wish to remind your husband of the FATHER'S responsibility in Islam to teach the children Islam.

My husband is a taxi driver and works MANY MANY MANY hours...but has taken the time to teach my children Arabic as well as Islam.

Every morning before my son leaves for school he gets 30 minutes of "Islamic class" from his father that includes a Childrens Koran (in Arabic) that is a teaching book from Morocco (that he picked up while we were there) as well as several other Arabic readers.

It is the father's responsibility for the children to be praying and able to pray and wudu by age 10.

My daughter's get less lessons...but he takes time at least 1 evening every 2 weeks to work on a new Sorat from the Koran...they learn to recite it in Arabic and they learn the meaning of it through him.

I support their learning and teach by example...and through daily reminders of the gifts of Allah.

Does your daughter pray? Does she fast Ramadan? She is of an age to do so. Are there other families in your community? (Friends at the Masjid can be great teachers and support for Muslim teens and preteens).

Salaam.
