When Kohl's opens a new store they have a "soft" opening before the grand opening.
A soft opening would start on the Sunday before the grand opening. Helps the new people get acclimated with customers and so forth! Usually there is a long line to get the freebies( cloth Kohl's bags)

thanks. there is a new Kohls opening in our town next month. I have never shopped there, so don't know what to expect. Glad for your info.
