Default No TV Week

This week is turn off the tube week. A week that encourages individuals and famlies to turn off the television and spend time with each other, or find other ways to entertain themseleves other than the TV. Do you plan on praticipating? Why or Why Not?

I can't. There's a new Office, My Name is Earl, and Lost on this week.

! Your fave. shows are mine too . I know, I'm bad. I never heard of "turn off the TV week" but then again, I get most of my news from watching TV.

The problem is - if you don't watch them when they come on - someone is sure to spoil you. Especially with Lost!

I'm the same way...but doesn't that say something about the importance of the week? We are all so plugged in to our TVs that we can't fathom the idea of turing it off for the week and doing something else.

To all of you who are afraid of missing your favorite shows this week: this is the 21st Century! Don't you have a video recorder of some kind, either tape or digital? Sheesh!
Over here, in the house-with-no-cable, we will be observing. My wife hates tv as it is. Of course, the organizers are not crazy: they scheduled it the week after the Easter/Passover vacations when kids would be back at school!
But here's a question: what if you watch video on the 'net? Is that still TV? Does that mean I can't watch my sports highlights at espn.com this week?

I actually think I could do this. I'm not sure my kids could. Sponge bob Sqaure pants re-runs are terrible to miss!

Actually with the weather as nice as it is, we've really not watched much TV the past 2 weeks anyway. They are outside everyday after school riding their bikes and playing with their friends and I couldn't ask for anything better.

I've missed a few favorite shows because of it (the kids playing outside all the time), but I'll survive. Of course I could never miss American Idol, so that will be my one weakness this week.

Another problem I might have is that I have the TV on for background noise when I go to sleep - I'm not actually watching it, I just enjoy the distraction. I guess that needs to get cut out too.

Why wait when it's on TV right now?

Oh, gee, this one is easy for us, since we rarely turn ours on. Now, if you asked me not to read ... heavens, that would be a terrible sacrifice. I mean, the comics are essential everyday!

I really like the idea of a TV free week. It's not going to work out this week though as Big Brother starts and there is no way my daughter is not going to mash her brains a little further by tuning in. Someone said they could live without TV but not books. I can REALLY identify with that!
