Default not sure where this goes

So my papsmear came up with a-typical cells and positive hpv (which I didn't have last year, which I don't understand at all). And I have to go in for a biopsy on the 18th. I'm really scared. I don't want to die. And I really want more kids. And I'm worried about my son because I don't know if it passed to him or not.

Does anyone know what my chances are of it being pre-cancerous? I don't have warts, so that's not good on the cancer scale but it's good on the gross scale, I guess. I'm really upset and just.. terrified.

DH and I broke the rules and had sex earlier than we were supposed to. Do you think he could have been a carrier and since my cervix was so soft from having Jack that maybe that's why I didn't have it before??

:'(

I'm just so scared.

Allison, take a deep breath!

Good thing is that you have plans to have the biopsy taken and
will know at that point what your plan will be.

Take a deep breath! Relax!

Not everybody waits the full 6 weeks and doubtful that caused this.

Prayers for you!

I know that it is scary but try not to worry so much.

There is no way to know where you got the HPV or for how long you have had it, so don't even try to figure it out . You can have it for years without ever knowing, because it is a virus that enters your body and stays there forever. Sometimes it will cause symptoms, sometimes it will not. Even if it is present, your pap test will not detect it unless abnormal cells are present. If your abnormal cells go away all by themselves (which these cells actually do most of the time) and then you have another pap at another dr office, they will never know you have HPV unless you tell them, because it wont show up on their tests. Does that make sense?

Also, please realize that this virus is very, very common, and although it is an indicator that you should screen for cervical cancer regularly, it is not an indicator that you are doomed to get cancer. In fact, most women who have this virus do get an abnormal pap result every few years, but very few actually get cancer.

In any case, you are doing exactly what you should be doing to look after yourself, and you will have more definitive information after your biopsy. There isn't anything you can do until then, so just try to relax. I wish you all the best. Keep us posted!

I just had my 6 wk checkup this AM.

My Dr. said he doesn't do pap smears at the 6wk mark (I go back in 3 months) because they come back abnormal so often, even if there's nothing wrong, so that may be the case with your abnormal cells.

I hope your further testing reveals that this is "nothing"
