Default Now that the belly button issue has passed...

I have another one... we've had this one since birth too. Sky's belly finally cleared up on it's own and looks really good now, but ya know how babies sometimes have tear duct bloackage when they are first born and they put that gunk on their eyes to help clear their eyes of any germs and what not? Well, her tear ducts are still draining with that greenish yellowish stuff (almost like what you see with pink eye, but she doesn't have pink eye). We've had her on gentamiacin (sp?) goo for a few weeks now and it's still not really gone. I mean it's considerably better but still not gone. I wonder if eye drops would have worked better.... The doctor was cautious only because babies are hard to get drops in (though we had the same issue with Dominic and his doctor gave him the eye drops version of the gentamiacin)... We see the doc Monday so I guess we'll see then....

Yes. . .that's something you need to see your doctor for. Green oozy goo out the eyes is definitely a doctor problem. I have to say, I'm partial to eye drops as well. With the 'stuff' it's a lot easier for reinfection because you have to touch your hand, or them or something else. I don't think it's easy to get that stuff in w/o reinfecting. Drops can be hard but, I think it's easier not to recomtaminate.

CeJay had that when he was born too... Our old doctor was HORRIBLE and didn't treat it for awhile, but he gave us drops of some form after me calling a million times ((I'm sorry, I don't remember what they were called)) and told us to hold a very warm wash cloth over his eye for 30 seconds, then wipe the goop. The drops cleared it up in less then a week, so I'd def. talk to your doc about it!

Naomi had a blocked tearduct for awhile and we just held a lukewarm cloth on it when it gunked up and wiped it clean - it helped quite a bit. I would keep in touch with your dr on this one

Oh. . .that reminds me. . .are you bfing? Breastmilk plus a warm cloth will treat eye infections really well. (Yes, I know it sounds weird. I promise it really works though. I also promise I'm not loopy.) See this blog.
