Default nursing a toddler

This question is primarily for those of you who are nursing or have nursed a baby older than one, although I love responses of any kind.

My original goal in nursing Aiden was to nurse at least for a year and to actively encourage nursing for at least another year after that. I have some questions about the process.

Now that Aiden is eating solids, and will start eating more and more, how do I encourage nursing (so far this question is a moot point - he loves to nurse!)?

How does the nursing relationship change as your toddler gets older?

How do I balance solids, cow's milk, and nursing? I don't want to short him on nutrients!

How do I encourage the nursing relationship to last another year while also following his cues (child-led weaning)? I don't want to be too pushy or not pushy enough.

At what age do you feel it is no longer appropriate to nurse in public?

TIA!
