Here is a really odd question.
If you have red hair, was it red when you were born, or was it blonde but turned red during the first year?
And are babies born with a lot of freckles or do they appear later in life?
Strange questions, I know. But a friend of mine has a baby who was blonde, but now her hair is turning redish. (She does have red hair in the family) She is almost a year old. Any way the mom, has a lot of freckles and is afraid that the baby will get that from her. (she hates her freckles cuz in the sun down here in Florida they multipy! she has to avoid the sun so she doesn't get patchy.) I would have assumed if the baby was going to have a lot of freckles that she would have them already. But then I got to thinking, you don't really see newborns covered in freckles. So I thought I would ask you all.

You get frekles from the sun and babies do sometimes have eye colour and hair colour changes. My Aiden was realy blonde when he was born...now it's gotten a little darker.

For the most part babies are generally born with as little pigment as possible as their genetic expression allows.

I am a redhead. I was born with red hair, or orange fuzz as my Mom likes to say. I didn't have any freckles for the first few years of life. Freckles are definitely a result of the sun. I loved sports growing up and had lots of freckles but as I got older (I am still young my freckles have faded some and there aren't near as many. That's my scoop!

Both my boys were born with dark hair that they lost within a few weeks. Then blonde hair with red highlights came in. My older son's hair has gotten a little darker now, but it is still blonde with red highlights. My daughter was born with brown hair that stayed brown.

Growing up I had a ton of freckles. Later on they disappeared. Now they are back. AND my hair has taken on a reddish tint. My grandmother had red hair so maybe it is appearing now. My hair used to be dark brown. Odd how genes work, huh?

Kelsie was born with pretty red hair, and no freckls. With big brown eyes.

DH has beautiful red hair, more gray in it now than before.
(OK, it is truthfully more gray than anything.)
He has beautiful blue eyes.
I understand as a little guy, he had red hair, not carrot red, but pretty red.
He never tans, just freckles and burns.

DS#1 (21) is now blond & deep blue eyes. He was born with dark hair, before his 1st birthday, in a 6 weeks period of time, it turned from dark to red to blond. My sister from WI (out of state) saw him 3 times in that 6 weeks and was amazed that each time his hair was a different color.

DS#2 (1 was born with dark hair. It then turned to a lighter red, pretty red before he was a year. He has more blue/green eyes. He got freckles as a little guy. At 18 he gets a gorgeous suntan and has light red handsome hair.

aiyana was born with almost black hair, now its strawberry blonde with big dark blue eyes no freckles. my mom is a red head(well its been getting darker its almost black now but dyes it) and not really any freckles and tans well but my uncle is a red head with many freckles. both mike and i had strawberry blond hair as toddler but both have dark brown hair with strawberry blond highlights
