is it true......That lifting heavy things will wrap the cord around the babies neck?? My mom has told me this every pregnancy. Per my knowledge now of my babies have had the cord wrapped around their neck and I also had a child on hip.
I think its just an old myth, but what are your thoughts.

Also what are some you have heard?

my mil told me that hanging up clothes would cause the cord to be wrapped around the neck - don't know where these wives tales came from.

I'd heard that lifting your arms above your head causes the cord to get wrapped around the baby's neck. Not true.

We could've lost my son during delivery because the cord was wrapped twice around his neck and every time I pushed his heart rate dropped into the 50's and 60's!! Fortunately the attending Dr. was able to save him and still deliver him vaginally. I have since come to find out that approx. 1/3 of babies have the cord wrapped around their neck---and it's because of their in utero activities--not Mom's

OMGoodness, LovinJesus! That sounds terrifying!!! I can't imagine! Praise God you had a good doctor who knew what he was doing!

my latest had the cord around her neck 3 times and came out just fine.... I think the tale is to get some people out of laundry chores , some of those old wives tales are too funny

It's so funny , the things that people say!!! The whole lots of hair / heartburn thing cracks me up. I have seen so many people have horrid heart burn and their baby is bald, bald, bald!
I have heard if you lift your arms over your head the cord gets wrapped. But think about it...when you picture it does it even seem logical? Your baby is in a protective sack, how would that happen?

I for one happen to believe in the heartburn and hair thing. I only ever had really bad heartburn with my first and he's the only one not born bald.
I've heard that if the momma to be is an evil *itch throughout pregnancy the baby should be a girl. In that case my third one is most definitely the wrong gender!

I was told this too....Jaecy's cord was around her neck, and her heartrate dropped a lot too over hte 45 min pushing wit her...Kaydee was fine and i did WAY more lifting (I had an 18mnth old) with her!

I believe the heartburn thing too...I had a little at the end w/ Jae she was born with a bit of hair...i had it from day 1 with Kaydee, to the point where it made me physically get sick, and she had a head full of hair!!
