One good offer if you are interested in 5% Dividend Credit Card
I noticed in the insert a few weeks ago there is an offer by Chase for its cash plus rewards visa card.
It pays 1% on all purchase and 5% on gas/grocery/drug store purchase.
Max reward is $300 per year.
If you apply by Aug.31, 2005, you will got $50 one time bonus cash back if you make first purchase.
I already got Citi Dividend card, but recently they dropped Walmart purchase from 5% dividend list.
And I probalby will call to get a card for both myself and my wife. That will be $100 extra and possibly we can get 5% dividend from Walmart purchase again. -
Also, for some reason, Chase credit card always treats the oriental grocery store I frequent often as gas station and probably with the card, I can get 5% reward from that store which does not accept any coupons.
This is not a business solicitation. Just share some information if you are really looking into getting a 5% Dividend Credit Card.
Here is Fatwallet Discussion Link, Image Scan of the Insert Ad is there too.

reminbi, I've read that applying for credit card accounts can hurt your credit rating. I just signed up for a Kohl's card a couple of weeks ago, so now if I apply for the Chase card, what affect do you think it will have on my credit rating with the 3 credit reporting agencies? Thanks.
Yeah. That maybe impact your credit report but as long as you do not close your old credit cards. I believe you will lost credit history if you close old credit cards??
I have not done much research on credit score and these kind of stuff since I have no car payment, no house payment so I am not that conerned with that. -

Some citi cards will offer a $100 bonus. Depends on the promo.
The same weekend, one insert offered a $50 bonus, and an insert from the other local paper offered $100 for the SAME STINKING CARD! (different promo codes, of course)

Robin-
Applying for credit will not hurt your credit rating, it can effect your credit score. You may have excellent credit rating, pay alll your bills on time, and such, but if you are applying for credit all over the place your credit score will go down. It is just a watchdog for companies so you don't over apply. Yes it is something to keep in mind, but don't lose sleep over it.
Even if you apply for mortages, any type of credit checks for renting, or a loan or even those time share sales places will put a "ding" on the credit score.

Thanks for the information. I have no idea what is difference with credit score and credit rating.
Mabye that is a good thing since you only need to worry about it if you are in debt.-

Re: One good offer if you are interested in 5% Dividend Credit Card
I think that Citi is one of the companies that doesn't favorably report your limit/balance. For example, CapitalOne does not report your credit limit, so it looks as if you always are at 100% of your balance. This hurt me in the past, with little credit history. I remember this being one thing that held me back from getting a Citi card.

Someone on fatwallete has confirmed that they will give 5% dividend for Walmart Purchase. Yahoo!
That is better than Citibank Dividend card. They reduces 5% to 1% dividend for Walmart Purchase a while ago.
And $50 first purchase bonus makes it even hotter.

Re: One good offer if you are interested in 5% Dividend Credit Card
BECAREFUL with Chase!!!!
I never missed a payment with them, even in the life of the card. We had some medical bills show up on our credit report. (My 1st dd was over $30K before she was born, $1,500 shows on credit report).
Chase ran a credit check on us. (They may do this by law)
We were at 18%(WAY TOO HIGH! anyways, but we were able to make payments).
They ran the credit check and saw the medical bills, jacked our rate up to 29.99%.
We CAN NOT afford 30% on $8K. We went into credit counsling and now we are paying 6% but the card is closed.
BUT be careful because I'm not the only one they have done this to!

Thanks for the information. Paying 30% interest is just atrocious.
I always pay full balance just before due date for all my credit cards. I have never paid a cent of interest to credit cards. I use credit cards to my advantage, to earn dividiend and signing bonus. - They pay me. -
