Default Family history is very grounding

I starting doing my family history about five years ago. Not only have I met distant cousins who I would never had had the opportunity to meet, but going back up the family tree really gives me a sense of my own roots. Learning about the life your ancestors led, and the hardships they had to endure really makes me appreciate what I've got now! It's always exciting when a new ancestor is found, but ultimately it makes you realise that you are carrying on their legacy to you - life! I'd love to hear from any other family tree fanatics.
