Default organizing/patterns

Jaeclyn, almost 2 1/2, has been doing some very impressive organizing.

My dad comes home with a dollar in change for her bank everyday. Its always different, some nickles, pennies, quarters, dimes. Jaeclyn always takes it and plays with it before putting it her bank.

The other day I noticed what she was doing--she puts it in a repeating pattern. For example, the first day I noticed it she had it like this : Nickle quarter dime penny nickle quarter dime penny....and it cont. that way until she was out of change. Any left overs that didnt fit into the pattern she had in a small pile at the end. At first I thought it was jsut a coincidnece. Then she did it again yesterday. She had 3 piles of stacked coins: quarter on the bottom, then nickle, then penny. all 3 the same, and then a small pile of leftovers.

Is this normal behavior for a 2 yr old? I didnt think she would start recognizing patterns for a few more years! My dad was jokingly saying she has OCD, due to the fact that she does this EVERYTIME she gets change from him.
