Dear sisters, Okay I want to hear from the rest of you. I am a visiting teaching supervisor who was asked by the RS pres to help out the coordinator since I have been in the ward for years and know many of the sisters and their situations and the coordinator is fairly new in the ward. Recently the RS asked the bishop's wife (and my good friend) to also help the coordinator. Unfortunately the two of them are very tight and the bishop's wife is very **** (her words, not mine). They have taken over from the coordinator and are doing her calling.
I don't have a problem with that since I know that the coordinator is having to work a lot of hours and can't always do the things that bw has taken over like inputing into the computer the monthly reports. Here is the problem.
We have been asked by the stake president to have 100% visiting teaching for the month of December. He gave the same challenge to the priesthood. The priesthood is requiring the brethern to report every week and then whoever hasn't completed their home teaching, there will be a grand sweep this last week. Instead of doing that, the RS and BW have decided to padd the numbers by sending messages to some of the sisters that are already assigned a visiting teacher. The reason that I found this out is because my mother received one of the letters and she has a vt who is a mom of 2 whose hubby is inactive so it's rather hard for her to get to my mom.
I know that they are padding the numbers already every month because out of the 5 women who report to me, one of them has sisters who only send letters every month to sisters who are active. We send out letters to sisters not assigned/inactives every quarter. My sisters have 85% contacts, but there are sisters on the unassigned list that are getting reported as contacted when we don't even have their address. The RS will count it as a visit if she happens to run into a sister in the hallway at church!!!
I think that this is totally wrong because it is taking the responsibility out of the hands of the sisters. If the RS can count that as a visit, then why can't the sister who is the vt for my mother count it since they are both in primary together and work together every week? You can't tell me that it's more important to get a 100% by cheating than to get 85% with personal visits like it's supposed to be. I have a real problem with this since I was the RS before her and really encouraged the sisters to do their vt.
Do you think that I should bring this up with the RS or just keep my mouth shut?
Katie
