Default the MTHFR mutation...

Hello! I finally got my test results from my R.E. yesterday...I tested negative for most of the clotting disorders and the HSG test showed my tubes are open. They found that my uterine cavity is T-shaped (they think this had something to do with why I had my cornual ectopic back in May) and they found that I am homozygous for the MTHFR gene mutation (I got the mutated gene from my Mom AND my Dad...so I have 2 mutations). Apparently, this is linked with a risk for cardiovascular disease and blood clots in the veins (I had no idea I had this, nor did my parents!!). My RE is convinced that this is the reason for my 2 miscarriages after the ectopic. SO, I am to continue taking a prenatal vitamin and she prescribed "Folbic" which is a huge dose of folic acid and vitamin B12 (somthing like 4 times the amount normal people should have) in order to put the affects of the mutation under control and supposedly help a future pregnancy flourish. I guess my body doesn't use Folic Acid and B12 properly so it's as if I don't have much of either...despite taking the prenatal vitamins every day. I guess I'm supposed to take the Folbic for the rest of my life. So, this journey has lead me to find out more than I bargained for! I'm bummed that I have this, but happy it is treatable and that we now know about it. The RE recommended we keep trying, and if we still don't turn up pregnant by the fall she will look to other reasonings (I have a possible luteal phase defect...so we're on the watch for that) This weekend is my ovulation weekend so I hope I can 1. catch a good egg and 2. make it stick! Sorry for the long post, I thought it might be of interest for someone out there. Good vibes to all of you!
