Default Panties vs. Undies

Alex wears big girl panties now!! We are so excited! Jason and I have been putting her on the potty for a really long time now, but haven't been giving her the Big Push to be able to do it consistantly. Well, this weekend we sent her to my mom's house because she has a lot more time to just sit and concentrate solely on peeing on the potty. And she had ZERO accidents! We only put a diaper on her at night, and there is no doubt in my mind that she is holding her poop for night time! LoL! She used to poop a couple of times a day, and but she doesn't want to poop on the potty. That's normal, and it will come with time! But we are really excited!

So I am friends with a few of you on facebook, and if you noticed my updated status yesterday (that Alex wears big girl panties now!) you might have noticed the stupid comment from my rude sister in law. She said, "umm... how about we call undergarments for a two year old "undies"?" She didn't bother with a congradulations or a Way to go or anything. Just that. She doesn't like that we call them panties. What, like I'm saying that Alex is now wearing a THONG or something?? For crying out loud, when I'm referring to my toddler wearing panties I'm not being sexy! Jeepers. Well, my mom didn't like her comment either, and commented on SIL's comment, saying that some people grow up calling them undies and some grow up calling them panties. (Go mom!) And then a bit later my cousin commented on my status saying that I didn't do any of it! (Because Alex went to my mom's house this weekend for the extra push and attention.) And if you knew my cousin, you would know that she was saying that because she wanted everyone to know that I should take credit for it. Pardon me, but Jason and I potty trained her, my mom just gave her the extra attention it took to get her to wear big girl panties, which I really appreciate, and we let my mom know we appreciated it! I was just upset last night when I got home from work and read all these comments that were just not that nice. It seems like people in my family can use ANYTHING to take you down! Trying to brush it off, trying to brush it off.

One thing that I REALLY loved was that I noticed that a few people "liked" my status, and those people were ladies from on here! I really appreciate that, ladies! I read those stupid comments (with one nice comment from a friend of mine!) and then noticed that 3 or 4 people "liked" it! You guys made me smile and then I realized that those who are acutally happy for us are those who know (or remember) what it's like to be in this position! So thanks again, ladies!

So my GO ALEX! post turned into a rant! LoL! But I would also like to get your opinion... Please be honest!!

Panties- Fine or Not Fine?

Well WTG Alex!!

I wouldn't have even noticed you said panties and give it two thoughts cause over here little girls wear knickers (which is what grown women call underwear too) and little boys wear pants. Your pants we call trousers.

we call them panties too. i'm pretty sure the packaging said "panties" as well, so you can send off a package to your SIL and highlight "panties". jk

I'm thinking your SIL and cousin are just a little jealous. Seems as if the family is focused on the wrong thing. What they should have said was Congrats Alex! etc.

Personally I would use the term panties for a little girl and undies for a little boy.

Congratulations Alex! WTG!
I have no feeling toward panties vs undies... But wanted to congratulate Alex and you for the great step!

DS started wearing big boy undies this weekend, too! We do NOT call them panties for him...

I say both but panties more then undies. Nevy just calls them "Dora's" b/c thats who is on them(and Elmo's for diapers)lol.

WTG Alex! Glad she is going for you!

Sometimes family can be dumb. I would just delete them of my facebook but thats me lol. I got mad at a few comments from my mom last month so I gave her the boot off my facebook. Once she said she was sorry and promised not to leave neg. or mean comments I added her again. I wont take crap from my family and they know it. I dont like it when they put me down for doing something good just b/c they are jealous. You should be very proud and not let their comments bug you. It takes weeks or even months to potty train so a few days at moms may give her the boost she needs but it's not what made her potty trained.
