Partial Birth Abortions - Your Thoughts.
In the USA, partial birth abortions, in the 3rd trimester are legal here.
What are your thoughts on this?
Would you have one?
Do you know somebody that had one?
What about the baby aborted?

please share your viewpoints.

I dont agree with them in any way, shape or form! I have never had one, nor do I know of anyone who has. I just don't agree with them! Partial birth is murder, IMO.

I was totally against them till I became aware of some facts. Most abortions are done in the first weeks of the pregnancy and the few women who have P/B abortions are not flocking out to get them like the propaganda would have us believe. There are few birth defects that are fatal and are unfortunately caught in the last trimester, and these are done by actually making the woman's body go into labor early, not the barbaric way it is often portrayed. I have changed my opinion a bit to say that legislation IMO should be altered to not have it done the horrific way it is sometimes done, but if the child has been found to have a fatal abnormality, it should be reviewed on a case by case basis and done humanely.

abortion no matter what the reason is illegal here in south dakota. I personally only know someone who has had a first trimester abortion and she regrets it more than anything even more now that she just had her baby. I think that abortion is completely personal but think that any abortion should not be allowed. I am the MOST disgusted with partial birth abortions. On myspace someone sent me a bulletin on abortion and it included pictures from abortions at all stages and all I could do is cry because it hurt my feelings so badly to see all these little teeny babies that were dead due to their mommies decisions

The term "partial birth abortion" is not a medical term, but one created for a particular political agenda. There are doctors now performing procedures that may or may not be breaking the law because the law was not written clearly.
However, that being said, I will not stand between a doctor and her patient with regards to her care. A doctor is the best person to determine the optimal care for her patient...not me.

I don't think I should judge another woman on her choice to terminate a pregnancy. I have never been put in the position where i had to decide. The facts are rarely Black and White and each case needs to be decided on a case by case basis.

I do believe that a woman has a right to choose in early pregnancy; however, the idea of a third-trimester abortion horrifies me to the core. Aborting a pregnancy that is past a gestational age that could survive with medical care just feels terribly wrong.

I think it should be a case by case decision. I do know someone who had one near the end of her 2nd trimester. Her baby had spina bofida. The woman and her boyfriend could not afford the extensive medical expenses the child would have needed had it survived the birthing process.
As much as I know I could not go through with having one, I do understand why this one woman did so. So I cannot say I am against it nor can I say I am for it. I think it is a very serious decision and definitely be a case by case thing. Above all it should not become a hot ticket political issue.
