Default pattern for migraine attacks

I get migraine headaches after every 3 weeks. That’s a sure thing to happen. I don’t know why but since finding out about that, I make sure I carry with me my pain med so that when I get the first signs (aura), I take one and it helps relieve me from the pain but have to fall to sleep. Without the med, I get the headache for as long as a whole day. What’s more painful is that OTC meds do nothing. Anyone else who may have noticed that there’s a pattern (a period of time) when the triggers occur?

I had bad migraines for a long time. I was the same way. I went to a Neurologist and they wanted to do and MRI... something I could not afford at the time... my % to pay would have been $500. So I went on doing nothing but taking Excedrine. That eventually stopped working. That Dr did tell me to keep a head ache journal. I kept one for 3 months. I recorded when they happened during the month, time of day, any activities I had done, food I ate, the severety of the head ache, etc. I noticed I was more prone to the head aches around the time AF came. I worked as a teacher and could not function and teach when one came on. One day I went home early from work because I couldn't see and my speech was slurred. I was sick at my stomach my husband found me leaning against the wall in the bathroom. I had called my regular Dr and asked to see if there was something he could give me for relief. He said yes, but I needed somone to drive me because I wouldnt' be able to drive when I walked out of there. I lived literally right across the street from the office and told him I could walk home... he said no. So I waited till my DH came home. He put me into the car and drove me the 100 yards to the Dr. I got a shot of Demerol and that stopped the headache. I was also not able to walk hardly. The Dr also gave me a prescription for Fiornal. He gave me 2 types. One with Codeine and one without. The one without I could take and actually work and function. It didn't make me sleepy. It was a miracle drug. The one with Codeine I took when I had those bad head aches at night. After I got pregnant I was scared because I wouldn't be able to take the meds. But thankfully I have been headache free since the birth of my son. Now I still have meds left over because I know they may come back. Just some info I thought I'd share.

Pretty much the same as mine. It’s a hormone thingy. I get migraine headaches as my PMS. Place a cold towel on your face to relax yourself. Also, ask your doctor about fioricet. It’s my pain med. Very helpful during heavy attacks. Hope this helps you too. You take care.
