Default Pest Control and Pregnancy

The last few weeks we have found a few little spiders and a couple of other bugs in our house. My husband thinks we need to call pest control but I am worried about spraying chemicals around while I'm 9 months pregnant or even after she is born. Anybody know anything about this?

How about those pet devices that you plug into your elcetrical socket? Never used them but I saw those on TV the other day. It doesn't spray anything and uses sound to keep the pests away.

When I was 7mo pg with my DD our land lord had someone come and spray around our house. **I had no control over the situation** Needless to say I ended up staying a few days with my parents and DH had to keep swing by the house daily to open up the windows and everything to air it out. Hopefully it's nothing bad and a few bug traps can fix your problem. Good Luck.

We used to use Terminix. They swear up and down that their spray is safe for humans, animals, etc. They spray around the perimeter outside the house, so I don't think it would be harmful. We were getting SCORPIONS inside our house which scared the living crap out of me. That was before our backyard was landscaped. We recently canceled with them and are just spraying the perimeter ourselves with stuff purchased at the Home Depot. DH does the spraying, not me, just to be on the safe side. I'd either call your OB and ask or just ask Terminix or whoever you call for pest control. Maybe your hubby can try to buy the stuff at HD and try to see if that helps before committing to a Pest Control company. They're about $33/month and come out to spray every 3 months. It's much cheaper if you do it yourself. HTH.

Thumbs up pest offense

The one on tv doesnt work(Riddex)...in fact they have an FTC ACTION against them, but there is an electronic pest repeller that does work!! I found it at www.pestoffense.com. I have a child with asthma so chemicals were not an option for me. The PEST OFFENSE just plugs right in and uses no chemicals at all. 1 unit covered my entire house...and it only cost me $29.95
I would recommend it to anyone with children, pets, and who are looking for environmentally safe products!!!!

I don't know what you mean by 'a few spiders' but if it's really just a few, I wouldn't bother with the pest control guys. Save yourself the money and the time and the hassel. I agree with Lessly about the things that plug into the outlets. I saw them on TV as well and they seemed like they worked well.

We just keep a fly swatter and paper towel handy. I don't want to spray chemicals around my baby who has his mouth on everything these days!
