Default Placental Tear--updated 7/18

Last week I posted about some bleeding I had. Long story short the bleeding was bright red Sunday 6/29 so I went to the hospital where they monitored me and did an ultrasound. The baby's heartrate was good, I wasn't contracting, the bleeding had stopped (it was only when I wiped--not a lot), and the u/s showed everything was fine.

I went to my Dr. the next day and he said "No lifting, pulling, pushing, or sex" and wanted to see me in 7-10 days. Off and on all week I had discharge various shades of pink/brown. Saturday was bright red, but by the end of the day it was gone.

Today I went in for my follow up. I have had ZERO brown, pink, or red blood since Saturday afternoon. He said I probably had a slight placental tear that had healed itself and to continue to take it easy (with a 22 mo old! How easy can I take it? ) for the next week. If I have no more blood in a week I can resume normal activity.

I am now 28.5 weeks.

Do any of you know anything about, or have experience with, a placental tear?

I have never experienced it. Did it hurt? Could you feel it? Does it mean that you'll have to have a C Section? Sorry for all the questions.. Just curious! I'm glad to hear that you'll be able to resume normal activities soon!!

Wishing you all the best!
Keep staying healthy for both you and baby.

No lifting the one you have at home!

I'm glad everything is doing better, but remember to listen to the dr.
And I agree, there's really no such thing as taking it easy with a toddler. My dr told me the same thing and to keep the stress levels down... My DD just turned 4 and acts like she's a pre-teen already. *lol*
Good luck and my thoughts are with you.

I've heard of it, never learned about it. I saw it on an episode of BIRTH DAY or something. GL and I'll keep you in my prayers.

I am now almost 30 weeks (tomorrow) and when I woke up this AM the spotting had started again. UGH! With the exception of one time last Friday I haven't had any spotting since 7/5 and I was beginning to think that I was out of the woods.

This morning was pinkish. My DH and I are supposed to go out of town today and leave DS with Grandma and Grandpa for the weekend. (First time we've ever been able to get away for a weekend since the little guy was born almost 2 yrs ago!!!!)

It's only 6:30am, so my Dr's office isn't open, yet, but I'm thinking about calling when they do. It's not bright, it's only when I wipe, I haven't had any pain or clotting and I've felt her move, so all of that makes me feel ok (not great, just ok) so I'm not waking up DH to run to the hospital.

I'm just scared. I want my baby to be ok. I'm glad this is my last pregnancy because I know I'd have this fear in the back of my head for the entire 40 weeks of any subsequent pregnancies.

(BTW I delivered DS vaginally, so I've never had a c-section or any other surgery on my uterus)

Sorry to hear the spotting is back.
Hope you were able to get ahold of the Dr's office early this morning and everything's ok. Good luck and you're in my thoughts.
