So, my wife and I are in the process of "getting our lives together". We found a financial group that examines your whole financial picture (income, debt, plans fo rthe future) and sets ups meetings with professionals (accountants, debt specialists, insurance agents, lawyers) to help you move forward and to make sure that your special needs child will be taken care of in the future (while you are living and ,well, dead) We have just started the process, but we are starting to see the value of the process and are hopeful that real organization is just around the corner.

I will let you know how the process is going, but I would at this point recommend that if you have a special needs child, get the process started.

I have read some of your post so let me tell you my story: I am adult with cp Doctors told my mom I would be in a wheelchair, I am not. A doctor told me by the time I finished college I would not be able to walk. I am in grad school now and still walking and have started my own business and I live on my own. Teach your child to reach for the stars and she or he will.

It is good to hear the success stories. We have not, nor will not stop fighting for my son. He is just starting to communicate, which is huge. Reaching for the stars is all that we do.
