When we were in Spain, we rented a car. One of the signs that always caused us trouble was a blue sign with a large white arrow. It was often placed at a Y in the road. As the navigator, I always said -- go that way, with ill results. We ended up off the main route by following the arrow, which I believe means, one way road, because that was the other part of the ill result -- a narrow, car packed road fronting on apartments and the like and ending up nowheresville. So be prepared.

I rented a car in France during my study abroad there...really this was a horrible event. I couldnt get used to the different style of driving and the other side of the street. I wouldnt reccommend giving it a try.
