Poor little guy. Daniel has an ear infection right now too. The doctor gave him amoxicillin (sp?) and he takes 1 tsp. 2x a day for 10 days. The doctor also told me to give him a dose of Infant's Motrin right before bedtime for a few days to help him to sleep. You can also give him a dose in the morning to help him during the day. Motrin has seemed to work the best with Daniel. Also, I have been propping Daniel up when he sleeps at night. I prop him with his Boppy pillow, and that helps him get some sleep. But don't use the Boppy in the crib, unless the baby is sleeping close to you. I have put Daniel's porta-crib next to my bed while he has the infection so that I can prop him with the pillow and listen to see if he's having any problems. You don't want him to roll over and suffocate on the pillow.
Another thing that helps A LOT is the over the counter eardrops for babies. They are made by Similasan and they are the Kids Size Earache Relief Drops. The come in single-use droppers so you just have to drop the whole dropper in then throw it out. They are a lifesaver with Daniel because they work immediately.
