Default Possible charges in the myspace suicide of Megan Meiers

This has been a big deal because it happene din our area but here is the latest on that.. Just when Lori Drew had thought she had escaped being able to being prosecuted for anything FINALLY someone has found a loop hole......

U.S. Attorney In Los Angles Could File Charges In Internet Suicide Case

(KTVI - myFOXstl.com) --
Los Angeles prosecutors are considering filing charges in connection to the death of a Dardenne Prairie girl.

13-year old Megan Meier committed suicide after receiving cruel messages on her myspace page, allegedly written by Lori Drew.

The Los Angeles times is reporting the U.S. Attorney's office in LA is considering charging drew with defrauding myspace by creating a false account.

Prosecutors believe they have jurisdiction because the popular internet website is based out of Beverly Hills.

Another new development the Meier case: adults who use the internet to harass children could soon face felony charges in Missouri.

Lawmakers must still approve the measure created by Governor Matt Blunt’s special task force on internet harassment.

Blunt formed the task force last month in response to Megan Meier’s suicide.

They should hold her accountable for what they can. Ironically, the law created by Blunt could now protect her against internet harrassment by outraged people.

LA will have their hands full if they make this work. I am sure she is not the only adult who harrasses young people through myspace, or creates a fraudulent account.

In interviews Lori Drew does (she has yet to actually appear in front of the public, she usually uses her attorney to make her statements for her) she does act as though she had no hand in it. She has changed her story twice to the media abotu what happened in relation to her involvement in the myspace thing. The new law will protect her now like you said McMama but at least the LA attorneys are doing something about what she did. There are thousands of people who "defraud" myspace by creating false profiles and I'm sure they'll use that as an argument, but how many "fake profiles" end in the death of a child? She would be extremely foolish to use that as her defense, but God knows I'm sure she'll try. Hopefully now there are repercussions to what she has done since Missouri couldn't seem to find anything to "legally" charge her with....

I'm still amazed that they can't charge her with all out harassment. Geez.

I hope they do something to her. But it IS ironic that if a protection law is passed, she will benefit from it but not that poor little 13-year-old girl.

I don't know how the parents restrain themselves from beating the crap out of her with a ball bat. They have much more self control than I.

It would break my heart to lose my child like this.
Very, very sad.

I do hope they prosecute this adult stalker.
