Default Pregnancy and Fitness

I've gone to the gym everyday for as long as I can remember. I've gone since finding out I'm pregnant, but for only half the time and do mostly cardio. I'm terrified to try anything more. Does anyone know a good resource on what is okay and what is not? I would use my boyfriend's knowledge (he's a personal trainer) but if you'll read my other threads, you'll understand my unwillingness to trust his advice... Anyway, if anyone knows anything that would be so helpful!!

I'd stay away from weight training. Stick with aerobics, walking, things like that. If you wanted to do some weight training, I'd only use those little 2 or 41b. weights.

I agree...no heavy lifting! Nothing that puts strain on your abdomen

I was also told whatever your body is used to, you are OK with unless complications arise later

My docs have a whole slew of information ready for 1st time moms that includes a booklet about what exercises to do and which ones to avoid during pregnancy. Ask your doc about it when you go next, I'm sure that they'll have something for you. Good Luck and Congratulations!

STaying fit is one of the best things you could do during your pregnancy!! I so wish I stuck to my normal exercise routine, but I stopped about 5 months because I just didn't have the time or energy.

I would highly suggest though that you look into taking prenatal yoga classes! They are supposed to prepare your body for childbirth and help make the delivery less painful because your body is conditioned. I wish I had taken the time to go myself.
