Default Pregnancy Diabetes

Hi Ladies, I spent 3 days in hosp last week as I started to bleed and was getting mild cramps but it all stopped after a few hours - Thank God - I was also diagnosed with pregnancy diabetes and I have to monitor my blood sugars 7 times a day and stay on a strict diet to avoid insulin shots.
The diabetic specialist saqid he will be recommending that my doc deliver the baby 2 weeks early because he already measures 5lbs 10oz on scan as of last thursday .
Have any of you experienced the same with an early induction/ c-section because of a big baby? Any words of wisdom I am scared the baby will have health issues because of this

I hae diabetes and am on my 3rd child... previous two were born healthy. The most important thing is to stick to the diet and keep those sugars low. When your blood sugar is elevated, so is the baby's, and their little pancreas has to work overtime to bring down the blood sugar. If your blood sugar remains high near birth, the baby's blood sugar can drop significantly following birth, requiring sugar water and observation in the NICU. Diabetics tend to have bigger babies (mine is over 7 lbs now and I am only 35 weeks!!!!), but they can be born just as healthy as anyone. If you have any specific questions, please feel free to ask!!
