Default premarital pregnancy

as we all know, our present generation are bolder and even more liberated than the previous one...premarital sex is happening everywhere...teenagers are learning to use [a pregnancy test kit, of course it is for the better that they know how to use such things but the society's morality is fading...i think our government should improve their sex educations throughout the country ...

I taught health and sex ed for 7 years and part of our curriculum requires the students to talk to their parents. I think that many parents don't want to have that conversation. Many don't want to picture their children involved with such behavior. The school district I taught in took drastic measures to create this curriculum because of the rise in teen pregnancy. I live in Texas and each district can make their own curriculum... if it even wishes to teach sex ed. I've worked in another district where they didn't even teach it. So it isn't required. I think it is sad that many parents don't talk to their kids and now schools have to play the parent role in teaching them this as well as other things.

Forgive me for stating the obvious, but there is a huge difference between premarital sex and pregnancy, and teenage sex and pregnancy.I was 26 when my daughter was born- I had lived on my own for 7 years at that point, was employed, and living with my fiance. To me marriage wasn't a prerequisite to parenthood (especially when the divorce rate hovers around 50%)- it's not comparable to some 16 year old who thinks that if she gets knocked up her boyfriend will luuuuv her 4ever.

Hey I have a great idea. I 've use it with all my neices and nephews. Let them deal with dirty diapers and a collicky baby. Let them experiance sleep deprivation ...and then ask them if they think getting naked in the back seat is worth it!! Just a thought ... of the 7 kids I've used this with all have made it past 22 with no babies.

My sister's school gave them "think it over" babies during home ec. It cried at random times and for different durations. Sometimes in the middle of the night. This is different from when I was in school. They made us carry around sacks of flour. Many teens find babies cute and want one, but they cannot fathom the amount of energy and sacrifice it takes to raise one.

Amber I agree with you 100% TEEN pregnancy and those who choose to have a child while they are not married are 2 totally different ideas. I have been paying all my own bills for over 10 years and yes when times have been tight my parents have helped out. I have been in a stable long term relationship for 5 years we are not "married" legally but we have committed our lives to each other and have been building our lives together I don't see how a piece of paper should be the prerequisite for parenthood. We are currently expecting our first child and are thrilled. We are not irresponsible just because we are not married, for that fact of the matter I know plenty of people who are married who have had children and do act irresponsibly! Ok I'm done with my vent

i agree that there's a vast difference between premarital pregnancy and teen pregnancy

i disagree that this is an issue that governments should be responsible for, parents are the ones that need to be responsible for their children's actions... parents need to stop being so ignorant and realise that teens are likely to become sexually active but are still rather naive and need guidance on how to protect from pregnancy and that babies do carry a lot of responsiblity

I think a girl should be married when she has a baby. It is not good for the baby, not just the baby but society as well. Children who grow up in married households are happier, healthier, and do better in school.
